343 Industries Shuts Down Rumor About Reduced Involvement in Future Halo Games
Halo developer 343 Industries has refuted a recent rumor about the franchise's future, hinting that it remains in charge of the next entry in the series. The studio's latest game, Halo Infinite, was well-received upon its release in 2021. Nearly three years have passed since the launch of the last Halo game, and as a highly popular franchise, its community has been buzzing with rumors and speculation. In January, the Halo Infinite developer issued an official statement denying a rumor that it was moving away from the franchise. Despite this reassurance, another version of the rumor has been gaining traction, suggesting that 343 Industries would only oversee future Halo games but not be the main team behind their development.
However, the studio has now indirectly shut down this rumor as well. On Twitter, 343 Industries' Senior Community Manager, John Junyszek, shared his thoughts on the rumor about the developer's reduced involvement in upcoming Halo titles. Replying to a tweet questioning the legitimacy of the rumor, he made a definitive statement, saying "It has been - and always will be - wild out there." This response essentially confirms that there is no truth to the ongoing speculation regarding the longtime Halo developer's role in future games. Even before the latest take on the rumor by the 343 Industries employee, insider Jez Corden had already declared the same to be "false."
He supported his point by noting how the Halo studio's ongoing hiring spree and its sheer size suggest that its involvement goes beyond simply overseeing the project. Hence, it's safe to say that the counter-statements from these two sources effectively put this particular rumor to rest. Amidst all this discussion, 343 Industries appears to be focused on expanding its team to build the next game in the Halo lineup. A few weeks ago, the American studio hired an experienced lead designer with a decade of experience at Halo creator Bungie. Earlier this year, another job listing from the Halo Infinite developer was spotted, which interestingly revealed that the studio may be set to make Halo multiplatform.
