Final Fantasy 14 has launched Patch 7.01, which adds the opening tier of the Arcadion raid series, along with various job balance updates and fixes for existing issues. The Monk class received significant attention in this update, receiving buffs and adjustments based on player feedback. Patch 7.01 was released two weeks after the full launch of Dawntrail, the fifth expansion for Final Fantasy 14. While Dawntrail did not experience the login queue problems that plagued the launch of Endwalker, it still faced challenges. Xbox Series X/S players encountered memory fragmentation bugs that affected their gameplay during the initial days of the expansion.
In light of these issues, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida announced that all players would receive compensation of at least two days of game time, with Xbox players receiving up to ten days. As part of its ongoing commitment to improving the game, Final Fantasy 14 regularly releases content updates to address lingering bugs and provide new content. Patch 7.01 introduced the Arcadion, an 8-player raid series for Dawntrail. The first four rounds of this raid, known as the "AAC Light-Heavyweight" tier, are now available on Normal difficulty. Instead of gear, players will earn armor tokens from each round, which can be redeemed weekly for armor and accessories tailored to their job and role.
The update also included several job balance changes, such as making the Black Mage's Umbral Soul available at level 35, increasing tank enmity generation during area-of-effect combos, and adjusting cooldowns for Astrologian, Samurai, and Red Mage. The Monk class received the most significant updates in this patch, with many of its skills buffed to enhance its competitiveness among melee DPS classes. The Beast Chakra gauge has been streamlined to align with changes made to Raptor's Fury and Coeurl's Fury, reducing the stacks of each buff. Despite these adjustments, Patch 7.05 is set to introduce further changes to jobs like the Viper and Black Mage, with that update scheduled for July 30. In addition to these updates, Final Fantasy 14 will implement a fix for ongoing Visa debit card issues on July 23. Overall, players can look forward to a wealth of new content throughout the summer and beyond as Dawntrail continues to evolve.
